With a commanding, yet distinctively airy vocal presence, pop singer-songwriter, Vanda, is making waves in a competitive, bustling independent music scene. Vanda has quickly evolved into a promising up-and-comer by blending vibrant, layered vocals, Hip-Hop/R&B elements with vulnerable, story-driven lyrics creating her own musical identity. Vanda cites her influences from artists such as Ariana Grande, Khalid, The Beatles, Post Malone, Kevin Garrett, Sasha Sloan, Frank Ocean & YEBBA.
Born and raised on the southside of Chicago, Illinois, her journey began at the age of 3 years old, performing in local musical theater productions, building an impressive resume with roles such as: Annie (Annie), Cinderella (Cinderella), The Artful Dodger (Oliver) and Babes in Arms (Billie Smith) etc. Vanda began playing guitar and writing songs at the age of twelve in her father’s professional recording studio while continuing her musical theater & performing training. Vanda ended her high-school career on a strong note as the Assistant Director of her elite, all-girls ACapella choir, as well as receiving the prestigious award for ‘Most Outstanding Musician’ in her class. However, from an early age, Vanda felt pulled to make pop music, putting her musical theater college career on hold in pursuit of her dreams.
Vanda’s passion for music and songwriting brought her to Los Angeles, CA where she performed in venues up and down Sunset Blvd regularly, while continuing to explore and push her creative boundaries. Unsatisfied with the direction her music was heading, and feeling incapable of communicating her own vision to the producers around her, Vanda enrolled in a production program at Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, California. Here, she learned the necessary skills to craft her own sounds, and cultivated connections that led to where she is today.
Early 2018, Vanda attended a private songwriting event hosted by American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, where she met one of Spotify’s most successful independent rap artists’, Lucidious, resulting in a career transforming collaboration on Lucidious’ single, “Right Reasons” off his album, which credits Vanda as a writer & performer on the track, which has racked up more than 600,000 streams to date. It was through this collaboration that Vanda was introduced to her now lead producer & co-writing partner, Joel Woods. Together, they have released 4 singles generating over 100,000 streams on Spotify, with their songs gracing the presence of over 2,000 Spotify playlists.
With each release, Vanda finds ways to connect to fans by providing deeper insight into who she is as an artist and hopes to continue pushing her creative boundaries through self-reflection/expression and the release of new music for years to come. Follow Vanda @iamvandamusic Show More
