The Spacies was formed in 2012 by Washington D.C. natives, David Cook, and Ross Lara. As songwriters and producers, they had met and collaborated years prior within their local music scene. They quickly became the best of friends after not only bonding over their love of music, but also their mutual passion for adventure sports, Mother Nature, and the great outdoors. Ross and David share a vision for pushing the limits of music creation by incorporating their adventure driven outdoor activities into their creative process. Not only do they pull their inspiration for their music from their favorite hobbies, such as snowmobiling in the backcountry, surfing, and downhill mountain biking, but they literally capture the sounds they find along the way and implement them into the music itself. It’s not unusual for The Spacies to feature a snowmobile engine as part of a bass line, or to find them tracking their vocals outdoors on top of a 14,000-foot summit in Colorado or Canada. It’s this creative process that truly defines The Spacies. The Spacies released their first single “Voices” on Enhanced Records in 2014 and have since then released 24 original songs and collaborated on over 22 remixes and features. They continue to build a loyal following of listeners on Spotify and Apple Music, having collected over 20M combined streams across all platforms in the past 3 years. In 2018 they released their first full-length titled “A Little Bit Of Lost”. They are currently working on their second full-length, planning a release for the summer of 2019. Ross and David are both accomplished songwriters and producers in their own right, having their names individually attached to several major label releases on a global scale. Outside of The Spacies they have collaborated quite successfully within the K- Pop market, having co-written and produced SHINee’s #1 single “Dream Girl” in 2013, as well as another song for SHINee in 2018 titled “Who Waits For Love”. The Spacies continues to create fresh and meaningful music at a rapid pace with no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Ross and David currently reside in Southern California, but try to escape to the mountains of Colorado as often as possible where they can be found pursuing their dream of becoming professional snowmobilers.
