Sarah Hudson is a songwriter, vocal producer, poet and muse. She is currently signed to Katy Perry’s Unsub/Warner Chappell/RX Songs. Her co-write entitled "Dark Horse" became Katy Perry's third single off her album, Prism. "Dark Horse" has been a commercial success, charting at number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song topped the charts for four straight weeks and has sold over 8 million, making it one of the top selling digital singles of all time and Perry's biggest selling single to date. Sarah also co-wrote "Black Widow" by Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora which has been certified 2x platinum by the RIAA and peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. Hudson’s other cuts include 9 songs on Katy Perry’s latest #1 Billboard album “Witness” including the single “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj, ”Get On Your Knees" by Nicki Minaj featuring Ariana Grande, “The Feeling” by Justin Bieber featuring Halsey, “Banshee” by Santigold, Dua Lipa, 5 Seconds of Summer, Idina Menzel, Adam Lambert, Charli XCX, Years & Years and many more.
Sarah was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA into a family of artists, poets, dancers and free spirits. Hudson began singing, writing and training professionally at the age of 3. As a teenager, Hudson did extensive guest and background vocal work for many established pop artists and began her own ventures in the music industry by the age of 18. Sarah landed a solo record deal with S-Curve/EMI records in 2005, but before her debut album, Naked Truth was officially released, the label folded and she was dropped. Collaborators included Desmond Child, Eric Bazilian, Mark Hudson, Billy Mann, Ozzy Osbourne and Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler. After this heartbreaking but cathartic experience, Hudson set off to take her career into her own hands and formed an underground electro club pop project called Ultraviolet Sound. The group, also known as UVS, toured extensively in the US/UK and released two full length albums. They had the #1 release at Top 40 radio from an independent label in 2011. In early 2012, UVS parted ways and Sarah set off on her journey into writing hits for other top artists. Sarah has featured/co-written on multiple EDM records such as "Fuzzy Peach" by Brillz, “Saturn” by Kill The Noise/Brillz, “Can’t Get Enough” by Tommie Sunshine/Halfway House and “Reality” by Brosafari. Sarah is set to release her own EP “Songs from the Sea” in early 2017 as she continues to write for the top artists in the game.
Sarah understands the mind of the artist and is not afraid to be different and daring in her approach to songwriting. She uses her experiences in life, love and music to bring a new, fresh and unique perspective to every song she writes.
