When I first heard the original, I immediately knew the catchy production was going to be hard to top. So i decided to try something different. The uplifting elements that make the original song so dope were very bright and pretty. So i took my production in a different route by changing the key of the song to minor and going darker to make the tune feel heavier and give more angsty in the vocal. I started the remix with just an accapella and a bass line over the chorus. From there, the remix just all came together. My bass lines were probably inspired by early 90's stoner rock ala Sleep and Comets on Fire and maybe a bit of Queens of the Stone Age. I decided to give the drum beat a minimal approach in the verses and then slam back in with a big chorus. Im also a big fan of early 70's dub reggae like Lee Scratch Perry and King Tubby, so you might hear some echoplex thrown in here and there.
