About this Remix

I decided to go with a drumstep remix to give this song a little more energy, as well as make it danceable without overpowering the vocals. I'd like to think of the non-electronic parts of the song as "the middle of July," if you catch my drift. I had so much fun remixing this song! Working with vocals really helped my creative process! Please hit "like" and share!

I like the chill vibes. The mix is a bit busy though. Maybe you could remove some elements and focus on one bass line and one type of melody. Also, see if you can work on making the drums a bit punchier and beefier. Refer to Brian For President's comments for specifics on how to do that. Overall, you have a unique concept, good job : )

I made a couple changes. I tried making the drums a little louder, and made one bass carry the drop (with the exception of a laser for the end notes). Let me know what you think whenever you get a chance to listen. Thanks!

Thank you! I'll work on that!

Around 1:07, try just the trap wobble, drums, and vocal. I think that would be a cooler groove if simpler.

I've never had luck with LANDR. I always use a similar mastering FX chain in MASCHINE for most of my tracks, and it works fine. You just need a decent chain of EQ + limiter. Keep your peaks below -.5 dB and choose an overall EQ that makes your song punch overall. Also, consider some transient controls for extra polish.

Thanks for all your help! I made some changes to my remix trying my best to follow what you said. Unfortunately LANDR won't let me master any of my wav files, even after I've claimed my two free ones, so I have to do it all in my DAW.

Hey Noah, that's a "chain" (linked sequence) of various audio effects plugins, like a compressor leading into a limiter, or like a vocal amp leading into an echo. These can be chained "outboard" using real hardware compressors and effects boxes, or all "in the box" using only VST effects/plugins.

What's an FX chain?
