I really wanted to emphasize the way the singer seemed to lost herself falling down the rabbit hole and was completely overtaken by getting lost in the memories of the one she loved when she was younger. I pushed the cries in the background up and octave trying to really bring out her hurt and sorrow. The synths are more bouncy than I would normally be comfortable putting in an EDM song personally. I wanted this to represent the climb and fall, the waning and waxing, the getting over, and being pulled back in. I kept some of the guitars and pianos in the background because I felt these were a good representation of the good memories peaking through. The singer wants him to know that she's been thinking about him. Though it isn't difficult to imagine that he's not even the picture especially as she comes closer to the conclusion of the story when she describes herself as having seen him last year. Most of the music cuts and the main focal point becomes the singer finds herself lost in a sea of near silence. One last flirtation with finding herself on solid ground before she's flooded with the realization that "Maybe, it's better to remember how we were..." and the sobering thought that she's still "pretending that you are still... mine."
