Tribal rhythms meld with face-melting bass drops, soulful vocals and euphoric synths that simultaneously elevate your being, whilst sacrificing your soul at the altar of hands-in-the-air hedonism. AZÜRA, a veritable High Priestess of the one’s and two’s. The deck-slaying, floor-filling, figure-head of a rave cult for the new millennium. Tender in age but wise beyond her years, Sammy McGlashan is a seasoned veteran of the Perth party and festival scene. From humble origins, dabbling in the dark deck arts as a 15 year-old in the backwoods of Bunbury, she soon realised the power and influence she could wield over a large, sweaty mass of people hungry for primal beats and howling synths. Her initiation rite to High Priestess of the Deck Arts at 18, involved a banging set at the 2015 Wonderland Festival, joining the likes of Alison Wonderland, Sweater Beats and Safia. AZÜRA was born. Completing a Diploma of Sound Production in 2017, laid the foundations for a bunch of lush originals, edits and remixes, embracing the melodic future bass sounds of Flume, Carmack and KAYTRANADA. More recently elements of UK Garage and House have been sprinkled generously into her productions. Her DJ sets are an exotic gumbo of Future Bass, UK Bassline, Trap, Tropical House, Grime and Hip-hop classics. In other words an uplifting melange of all that is and always will be good and joyous in club music.
