Swedish pop promise Cajsa Siik is on the move again. The Fix, the first single from her second album, will be released on 100 Songs on november 12th.
"The Fix is a conversation I had with myself once, about freedom and escapism" says Cajsa about the single. The song is a sparse and somewhat danceable number where drum machines collide with guitars that echo of David Bowie's China Girl.
The working title of the upcoming album is Contra. It was recorded by Rolf Klint and produced by Cajsa and Calle Ekerstam. The music came out of a creative chaos where making progress became more important than getting bogged down in the tedious overthinking of what was actually being recorded. The mostly unedited lyric is a good example of this.
"Contra is about contrast and opposites. Hard meets frail, acceptance meets denial and dream meets reality. We entered this bubble and threw objectivity out the window. Gut feeling was our only compass."
Since the debut album Plastic House, Cajsa Siik's music has started to spread internationally. She's had songs featured on TV shows like Degrassi and The Fosters and she's toured in both the UK and Germany.
